Achillea millefolium, commonly known as yarrow, is a flowering, perennial herb that originated in Asia and Europe, but can be found growing in several countries across the world. You can even find the plant growing wild in pastures, fields and road sides. This is proof that yarrow can grow in poor soil with very little care.

In antiquity, yarrow was known as herbal militaris, for its use in stanching the flow of blood from wounds. The dried flower buds can be used as flavoring and for its many medicinal properties.

The flowers, leaves and aerial parts are used for medicinal uses.
