Samphire is a plant that grows near the sea, on rocks and beaches. In every region of Greece that we will go, we will find it with a different name but the most famous are the kritamo and almira. It is slightly crunchy, delicious, quite salty, has a strong aroma and taste and finds uses as an appetizer and as a garnish in cooking recipes. Accompanies appetizers with ouzo and tsipouro with oil and lemon. Some people collect the samphire, make it into pickles or dry it, turn it into powder and throw it in their food.
